Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival
1. How it started
This festival is the brain child of Michael Veerapen who is one of Malaysia’s most prominent Musicians as a Composer, Arranger, Musical Director, Producer while also being recognized as one of the Region’s most respected Jazz Musicians.Recognizing that the Music Industry in Malaysia has grown over the years with more and more talented kids taking up Music as a profession, there was a need for musicians to pool their talents and inspire each other to greater abilities in their instruments. Hence, he met with a group of 5 other Jazz Pianists and they all agreed that it was time for a Jazz Piano Festival much like what their classical counterparts have been doing for years.
The first Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival was held in January 2014 at No Black Tie and it was a great success!
