After arranging the “9 Amazing Runaway Retreats that Exist in Malaysia“, apology for not having any East Malaysia’s retreats… maybe you can introduce us some by writing your own experience and send to our email ?:)
Lately, we have discovered another retreat which is located in Templer’s Park. It’s called “The Templer Park Rainforest Retreat”. Previously introduced by some other Malaysian bloggers, the Next Trip crew finally has time to check it out just last weekend!
Templer’s Park is a forest reserve in Selangor. The park is located about 6 km from Rawang and just 22 km away from Kuala Lumpur. It is 1,214 hectares in size, and it was named in honor of Sir Gerald Templer, a British High Commissioner in Malaya.
Templer Park Rainforest Retreat is located in a bungalow neighborhood. And the retreat is built on a cluster of 5 bungalow lots.
Here is how it looks like before we enter the neighborhood.
After passing the neighborhood security check, just turn left and go straight until the end of the road, you will see a very steep hill with a autogate at the entrance. Mr Saw, the retreat’s owner was already waiting for us at the gate and pointed us to go up to the hill.
Here’s what we saw when we reached the top:
What makes this retreat special is in this elevated land, the owner built a double story pavillion which includes 2 hammocks and some cozy rattan chairs:
The facilities on the ground floor:
This spells: I love hammocks
Facing the mountains and golf club
There are 2 chalets that you can stay in, one is the older chalet, with a small pavilion on top and a pond in front.
The old chalet is a little far inside, and dark in the night. You can stay here if the new chalet is full.
The new double story chalet is really big and clean, equipped with all facilities you may need. This chalet alone can accommodate at least 12 persons.
There are total 4 rooms, all with attached bathrooms, king size bed, and one with extra double decker bed.
And a swimming pool with Jacuzzi is expected to be completed by the end of Feb 2015!
The kitchen facilities that are provided here include: toaster, steamboat pot, refrigerators (total 4 of them), BBQ racks, and stoves, wok and pots for cooking.
Besides, you would find some small bits provided as well: butter and jam, bread, fruits (during our stay was mango and watermelon!), 3-in-1 coffee mix and eggs.
The open concept kitchen:
There is an arbor above the kitchen. Not sure why.
Stuffs in kitchen cabinet:
We use the stove for our breakfast
After having a tour of the retreat area, we relaxed under the big pavilion area.
We didn’t prepare any activities, so we were just sitting there chatting and doing nothing. Isn’t this the purpose of runaway retreat?
If you really couldn’t stay away from your city life, fear not, your smartphone will have internet connectivity here. The retreat also provides Maxis MiFi for free.
Around evening, we started to prepare for the dinner’s BBQ and steamboat sessions.
We will skip showing you what we have eaten=p
It was a fulfilled dinner and be reminded that not to leave any food around unattended as there’re monkeys around that may come over and take away your food.
However, the retreat is quite dim in the night, especially after the whole pavilion and kitchen lights off.
Before we check out, Mr Saw came to us for a group photo, but other people had left, too bad.
